Aphrodite and Venus

The ancient Romans honored the goddess Venus during the month of April. Venus was the love goddess. She was also the mother of Aeneas who brought the Roman stock to Italy from the burning ruins of Troy. Like Romulus, whose parentage was also divine, since his father was said to have been Mars, Aeneas is credited with founding Rome.
