ABC-TV's "Empire" - 2

Wednesday July 6, 2005
From the Forum comes the following critique of the second installment of ABC-TV's Empire:
"Whereas we looked for things that were wrong in Episode 1, in Episode 2, I couldn't find anything that was RIGHT. It seemed to me they were trying to do a remake of "Spartacus." For a start, the gladiator "camp" was named Arkham, no doubt a name taken from the fictional town in Massachusetts that was the scene of so many H. P. Lovecraft stories. It's certainly not a Latin name. And every time they showed the gate of the camp, did they have to pan the camera over the heads on pikes? Collecting heads is a hobby I would expect from the Gauls, not from Romans.
What did you think of Empire?
