Children, Liberals, and Books

Friday July 8, 2005
Today on David Meadows blog I found Dr. Weevil's Weblog, which explains why "liberal" and "library" are unrelated. At the end is a small, unintended puzzle:
How many ways can you translate the motto of St. John's College (annapolis) "facio liberos ex liberis libris libraque"?

Also noted on David Meadow's blog is today's anniversary of Sir Arthur John Evans' birth in 1851. Evans was responsible for the excavations at Knossos and defining the Minoan period of Crete as a major civilization from c. 1900-1300 B.C.
