Plagiarism
Monday August 29, 2005
In the past two weeks I have received two plagiarized submissions. One of them plagiarized something from my site -- it was exceedingly easy to recognize my own style. I am sorry to say the writer, a recent college graduate, said the paper was based on what the student had submitted at college.
The other submission I might not have noticed, but I wanted to see what others had said about the book for which the guest reviewer had submitted a review.
Lo and behold! There was the review, with a different byline. Now, it's possible that the real reviewer used a pseudonym when sending me the review, but in that case, I need to know.
Although I'm a bit gun-shy right now, submissions are still welcome, but write to me first, and make sure the material in the submission is truly yours to use.
N.B. If you want to use a (preferably small) section of what I wrote, use quotations, credit me, and use the URL!
This review of plagiarism and copyright may help if you think you may not completely understand what originality means: Plagiarism
