The Hittites and Hattusha

Tuesday January 3, 2006
Kris Hirst has put up a photo gallery on the Hittites.

The Hittites were an ancient near eastern civilization located in what is now the modern day country of Turkey, between 1640 and 1200 BC. The discovery of the capital city of the Hittite civilization called Hattusha was a major event in archaeology of the near east, increasing our understanding of the Hittite Empire as a powerful, sophisticated civilization of the 13th through 17th centuries B.C."
