In addition to the preceding article on the antiquity of European "yogurt," there is actually quite a bit of archaeological news related to Ancient/Classical History. For instance, another Discovery Channel news article, Warrior Found Buried In Attack Position, by Jennifer Viegas, Discovery News, reports that in Gohar Tepe, Iran, a warrior has been found buried with a 26-centimeter dagger poised to strike. Beside him is a plate with holes and coal thought to have been used for burning incense.

The biggest recent news is probably that a statue thought to be of King Tut's grandmother has been unearthed in Luxor, Egypt. Amenhotep III's royal wife, Queen Tiy's statue was found in a temple of Mut. This article is all over the place, but here is one link: Statue of King Tut's Grandmother Found, by Jennifer Viegas, Discovery News.
