Tomb Robbers Find Egyptian Dentists' Tombs
Monday October 23, 2006
In the Washington Post article, Thieves Lead to Discovery of Egypt Tombs, Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, told reporters tomb robbers (subsequently apprehended) launched their own dig that led to the discovery of the graves of 3 royal dentists. The tombs date back to the 5th dynasty (third millennium B.C.). Hawass says the placement of the tombs near the Step Pyramid of King Djoser shows the dentists were highly prized.

I found Dr. Hawass’ proclamation that the first Fifth Dynasty tomb has a curse written around its doorway to be very interesting.
