In Archaeologists in Rome uncover the only existing example of Maxentius's imperial insignia, the AP reports on the discovery of imperial insignia of the Emperor Maxentius whom the Emperor Constantine defeated at the Milvian Bridge in A.D. 321. Archaeologists digging under the Palatine Hill found 3 lances, 4 javelins, a sceptre, glass spheres, and objects thought to be the base for imperial standards. It is thought that loyal followers of Maxentius buried the items to preserve the emperor's memory.
