Andromeda

Wednesday March 21, 2007
Andromeda rescued by Perseus Andromeda was the daughter of an Ethiopian king. She wound up in Greek mythology because she was rescued from a sea monster by the smitten Greek hero Perseus (of Medusa decapitating fame). Perseus used the paralyzing head to get rid of another claimant to the hand of Andromache. He then married the princess and together they produced several children, including Perses, the eponymous founder of the Persians -- again, in Greek mythology. Read more about Andromeda.
