Giza Plateau FAQ

Monday June 9, 2008
Two of the most impressive monuments from the ancient world come from the Giza Plateau near Cairo, in Egypt. One of these is the Great Pyramid, which is the tallest of the three large pyramids in the photo and was the tallest man-made structure for millennia. Until recently the Great Pyramid was one of the 7 wonders of the world and is still one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Another is the sphinx. This isn't the sphinx that stopped Oedipus to ask him a riddle, but the clearly inanimate giant statue. Find out how tall the Great Pyramid is, for whom it was built, and which pharaoh the face of the Great Sphinx represents.
