That’s really interesting that researchers have indeed found ethylene at the oracle’s site… And the pottery’s cool, too!
I’ve had need of a pottery Guide recently. Glad to know you’re around.
Although the ethylene explanation is interesting, sometimes I prefer the idea that the Pythian priestess was possessed by Apollo, especially on days when she’s consulting with legendary kings.
Oh, good image choice, N.S.! It really makes me wonder what these prophetesses saw and said while “under the influence.”

I think the thing that fascinates me most about ancient Greek pottery is its amazing detail. Even though the artists worked with only a few colors, they captured everyday life, legends and Greek spirituality in such an amazing way. We’re so lucky they left us such a vivid window into their lives.
