One of the most popular spots in the world for the Winter Solstice is Newgrange, where a prehistoric passage was apparently designed specifically to provide natural illumination to the passage at the winter solstice. This phenomenon was re-discovered only as late as 1967 by Professor O'Kelly, according to the
Newgrange Solstice Webcast.

Visit to Newgrange.
The 2008 Winter Solstice illumination at Newgrange will be streamed live on
the internet on Sunday Dec. 21, 2008, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
