I remember that illustration, or one very like it, from my childhood copy of Odyssey! What great memories and such a fascinating story. It meets you where you are, and grows with you. :D

To me it says “I’ve had a horrible time getting home. I faced all sorts of super powers and all I could do was keep my wits about me. Now, I’m home, where I can finally do something about it. It may be a bit over the top, but, well, tough. You’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
