The Battle of Marathon -- part of the Greco-Persian Wars that the Greeks fought against Persian leaders Darius and Xerxes -- was an important day for the Athenians because they won despite Sparta's absence. During the Persian Wars the Spartans and Athenians were allies. This changed.
In 477 the Athenians and their allies set up the Delian League. Then came the battles between Athens and her allies and Sparta and hers that are known as the Peloponnesian War.

So the Athenians started the Delian league, and that’s why they felt entitled to move the treasury off Delos and used the money to fund the large construction project otherwise known as the Parthenon?
I thought Delos was an interesting visit, treasure or no.
One possible date but not really sure, Ancient history is a great story to tell, and to go back and remember because you could learn a lot form it.
I love reading ancient Greek and Roman history, really interesting and lots of great art
