On this day in ancient history, June 25, A.D. 107, the Roman Emperor Trajan celebrated a second triumph over the Dacians [for the location of Dacia, see Maps of the Roman Empire]. The victory brought many slaves and much wealth to Rome and was visually recorded in Trajan's Column. Trajan's long, public celebration over the conclusion of his 2 Dacian Wars (101-102, 105-106) included the biggest gladiatorial fight in ancient Rome.
