The Rogue Classicist says this is another possible date for the anniversary of the decapitation of Pompey upon landing in Egypt in 48 B.C. Unfortunately, many ancient dates are questionable. Less controversially, in 61 B.C. Pompey celebrated a triumph for his victories in the third Mithridatic War.

Suspcious, but I think taking September 28th (the day before his birthday) is probably the most sensible decision.
