You have a 50-50 chance even if you don't know because I'm providing the emperors' names: Trajan and Marcus Aurelius.

Notice that one has the image of a river god coming up and the other has an image of a rain god perhaps sprinkling sideways.

Compare information about Trajan's Column with that of Marcus Aurelius.

If you can't guess which is which, look to the comments, or if no one figures it out, I'll give the answer next week.

I’m going with Trajan because I remember the name as he figured in your blog not so long ago…

Yes, one is Trajan’s. Which? I had thought about finding photos that looked more similar. Glad I didn’t because then it really wouldn’t be clear that there were two separate ones. Note that one column has deeper relief sculpting than the other. The way of dealing with perspective is also slightly different.

….And besides… I really like the Stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius….

My college art history course comes to the rescue once more. . . I found it interesting that the columns have such distinct differences in style, considering that not much time elapsed between the creation of the first and the creation of the second, which was modeled on the first.
