In ancient Rome, from November 4-17, the Plebeian Aediles put on the Ludi Plebeii (Plebeian Games) in the Circus Flaminius. The lovis Epulum was a great public feast put on during the games on the Ides of November. (Do you know which day was the Ides? [See When Were the Ides?]) The ludi of the ludi plebeii were both theatrical performances and circus games.
