After Romulus Came Numa Pompilius

Romulus was the first king of Rome. How he died is unknown, but legend has it that he disappeared into a thunderstorm. His successor was a far more peaceful man, a Sabine named Numa Pompilius who created some of the lasting religious customs of the Romans.
