Was Varinia the Real Wife of Spartacus?

Friday April 13, 2007
A question from email:
Is it known whether Spartacus had a wife, and if she had any of his children? (Was his wife and child written into the story by [Howard] Fast to make the story more exciting ... ?)
In the made for television movie Varinia was a Gaul and Spartacus a Thracian. Plutarch says Spartacus was married to a Thracian. Find out more about the real "Varinia": Was Varinia the Real Wife of Spartacus?
