Forum Question on the Saepta

Sunday April 9, 2006
The saepta (ovile) was the voting place on the campus Martius. Julius Caesar had planned to build a saepta out of marble before his life was cut short. It was finished and dedicated by Agrippa in 26 B.C. and called saepta Iulia. The Julio-Claudian emperors held games in the saepta. A forum poster asks the following:
Was food served from stalls in areas like the Saepta Iulia or did people have to bring it from outside?
If you have a source on food service at the games or specifically at the saepta ovile, please post in this thread: Forum Question on the Saepta Thank you.
