Poetry Month - Lucretius
Sunday April 13, 2008
De rerum is an epic, written in 6 books, which explains life and the world in terms of Epicurean principles and Atomism, a
philosophy that said everything was created of tiny uncuttable particles or atoms (back in the days before microscopes). Titus Lucretius Carus (c 98-55 B.C.) was the Roman Epicurean epic poet who wrote De rerum natura (On the Nature of Things). He may have died before finishing it.

Lucretius is an excellent choice for April’s poetry month. Please help us get a good feel for the “poetry” of the work.
Thanks
