Pasiteles

By N.S. Gill, About.com

Definition: Pasiteles was a first century B.C. Greek artist, a native of south Italy, who worked in marble, ivory, silver, and bronze. None of his work survives, although there is a signed marble base by Pasiteles, in Verona. Pliny says Pasiteles wrote "Noble [or Marvellous] Works of Art throughout the World" in five volumes.
