Hatshepsut Basics
Hatshepsut (also known as Hatchepsut) was the oldest daughter of Tuthmose I and Aahmes. She married her half-brother Thutmose II who became pharoah when their father died. When Thutmose II died, Thutmose III became king, with Hatshepsut acting as regent. Gradually Hatshepsut assumed the power of the king of Egypt, serving as pharaoh from about 1503 - 1480 B.C.
