In Norse mythology, Balder was the son of Odin and Frigg, the father of Forseti, and the husband of Nanna. Balder was the most beautiful of the gods. Hoder may have been Balder's brother. Loki, jealous of Balder, persuaded the blind Hoder to throw a sprig of mistletoe, which hit and killed Balder.
