Erechtheum (Erechthion)

CC Flickr Dan.

The Erechtheum was a temple on the Acropolis built for the tutelary deities of Athens, Athena Polias, Poseidon, and Erechtheus. In 480 the Persians burned it, but it was rebuilt and greatly admired. On its south side was a small hall for Kore that was supported by caryatids instead of columns.
