Note on Hecataeus' Geography

Herodotus ridicules those Ionians who thought the continent of Asia as big as Europe and those who divided the world into three continents. It is possible that Hecataeus was among those who divided the world in three, even though for the sake of the symmetry of his work on geography, he only names two.
