Peloponnesian War
Sparta and Athens were the two major Greek powers at the end of the fifth century. Their battle for supremacy drained the resources of both and left Greece open to the Macedonian invaders, Phillip II and his son Alexander.
Age of Pericles
Pericles led the Athenians to cultural magnificence, but he also persuaded them to adopt the faulty strategy of waiting out the Spartans from behind the walls.
