Son of Ninigi and Ko-no-Hana, and brother of Hoderi, his name means Fire Fade. Hoori became a hunter and the ancestor of the Japanese emperors.

The Palace Under the Sea
One day the brothers Hoderi and Hoori exchanged the tools of their trade, so Hoori went fishing and Hoderi hunting, but Hoori lost his brother's fishhook. He went under the sea to retrieve it. The sea god helped him find it and taught him how to get the best of his brother.
