Book Review Tips and Article Submission Tips
If you're working on an article submission, please include your major sources (author and title).
For a book review, Remember to include the
- title
- author
- date
- place of publication.
If you're writing a review, make sure you specify the genre or type of book (e.g., fiction, nonfiction, biography, poetry)
Express the theme: What is the book about? Why did the author write it?
What time period is covered? If it's not one of the better known places and periods (e.g., Classical Greece, Republican Rome), and if the information is available, provide some context: What was happening at the same time elsewhere in the world?
For example:
In XXX, a fictional biography of a first century B.C. Asian potentate, A.B.C. shows the conflict between Republican Rome and her provinces.
If you're having trouble, try summarizing each chapter.
Give your reactions and tell how well the author accomplishes his or her objectives. How does it compare with works by other authors on the same topic? How does it compare with other books by the same author (especially for series).
If there is anything else noteworthy, mention that.
