Trochaic trimeter

Trochaic Trimeter was a meter chanted with an aulos accompaniment to suggest agitation. The following is a representation of how a line of trpchaic trimeter would be scanned, with the U indicating an unstressed syllable and the double line a diaeresis: -u--|-u--||-u--|-u-. Modern screenplays consist of dialogues among individuals. Ancient tragedy began as a conversation between a single actor and a chorus. A second and third actor were added -- eventually.
