- Pre-Socratic Natural Philosophy to Ethical Philosophy
The early Greek philosophers, from Ionia, (Asia Minor) and southern Italy, examined the world around them and asked questions about it. Instead of attributing its creation to anthropomorphic gods, they sought rational explanations. This was the beginning of natural philosophy.

Atomism was one of the theories the ancient Greek natural philosophers devised to explain the universe. The atoms, from the Greek for "not cut" were indivisible.
