Gods/Goddesses Index
Zeus (Jupiter) was the Greek (Roman) king of the gods. He was the father and ancestor of many of the Greek heroes, especially Hercules, and the father of many of the gods, including Apollo, Artemis, and Dionysus. Zeus gave "birth" to Dionysus through his thigh and to the goddess Athena (Minerva) through his head. His wife was his sister Hera. Zeus' other sisters were Hestia and Demeter.
His brothers were Hades (Underworld god) and Poseidon (sea god).
