The Titans were children of Okeanos and Gaia, siblings of the Cyclops and the Hecatonchires (hundred-handers). In the beginning, they had a very limited selection of mates, so they generally married one another, Oceanus mated with Tethys, Hyperion with Theia, Koios with Phoibe, Kronos with Rheia. However, Mnemosyne mated with Zeus, Kreios with his cousin Eurybia, and Iapetos with his niece Klymene, the daughter of his brother Okeanos.

3000 sons, including Acheloos, Peneios, Skamandros, 3000 Oceanid daughters, including the River Styx.

Gaia's children Eurybia (daughter of a different father, Pontos; therefore not a Titan) and Kreios (a Titan son of Ouranos) mated to produce Astraios, Pallas and Perses.

Two of Gaia's other Titan children, Okeanos and Tethys bore a series of sons, possibly as many as 3,000, and possibly the same number of daughters referred to as the Okeanids, among whom was the River Styx (because she joined with Zeus in the Titanomachy, oaths are sworn by her) who mated with Pallas. Gaia's Titan children Hyperion and Thea mated to produce Eos (dawn) who mated with Astraios, as well as Helios, and Selene. The remaining child of Eurybia and the Titan Kreios, Perses, mated with Asterie, daughter of the Titans Koios and Phoibe. Asterie's sister was Leto (mother of Artemis and Apollo). Asterie and Perses produced the goddess Hekate.
