Ancient / Classical History on About
That's where you are right now. On each page of this site there is a search box in a gray bar at the top of the page. Enter your search term to see what resources I've gathered together for your convenience or check the selection of references below:
• Ancient / Classical History Professional Resources - Databases, bibliographies, and more.
Dictionary - Oxford Classical Dictionary
The Oxford Classical Dictionary (OCD) is widely available in college and public library and even in used book stores. The OCD should be your next call for help. There are also many other specialized, but less thorough dictionaries in areas of ancient history and classics that may be available at your library.

Cambridge Ancient History
For more details on an event from ancient history, your next stop should be the Cambridge Ancient History, located near the Oxford Classical Dictionary in the history reference section of your local library. The Cambridge Ancient History Second Edition Set is also available for purchase.
• Cambridge Ancient History
Abstracts - L'Annee Philologique
Here we begin more specialized works. If you're serious about studying Classics, you will spend hours poring through volumes of this French series looking for articles on the topic of your choice. Look through the most recent volume first. You may find the bibliographies in the more recent volumes all you need for your own research.

Encyclopedia - Paulys Real-encyclopädie der classischen Altertumswissenschaft
You should be able to translate or read German to make the best use of this essential reference work, known as RE or Pauly-Wissowa, for short. It took nearly a century to write all the volumes of this encyclopedia. If your German is limited, you may still consult it for references to primary sources.
