F.A.Q.
- Q. Wasn't Jesus Before Greece? or Wasn't Greece Before Judaism?A.
If you're unclear about broad historical eras, please check this timeline of major events. I can't stress enough how important it is to understand this basic framework. A map is vitally important, too.
- Q. Can you help me answer my homework questions?A.
Certainly I can help you, but I won't do your homework for you.
If you send me your homework questions, you can expect no reply. But if you are trying to do your own work, and encounter some difficulty, help is here. You may wish to begin with the 1000s of pages on this site. Don't forget your local or school library! Then, once you have actually begun your work, please feel free to post specific questions on our forum. - Q. Tell me all about Hera (Juno), Aphrodite (Venus), etc.A.
To make it as easy as possible for you, I have an alphabetized list of references for the major gods and goddesses. For the Greco-Roman gods and goddesses, both names are listed, so you don't have to remember. Please take a look at this list: List of Major Gods and Goddesses.
If you need more information than you find there, chances are your question is beyond me -- in which case you'll need the expertise of one of the many forum contributors -- so please post your question on the forum.
- Q. Would you please translate something for me?A.
No. I'm sorry.
However, there are sometimes people on forum who are willing to undertake small bits of translation to or from Latin for free. Please read Where Can I Find a Latin/English Translation of... before posting your translation question. It is not possible to handle questions in other alphabets. That includes Greek and Hebrew.
- Q. I need to write a paper on King George. Would you please send me information?A.
See Defining Ancient History!
While King George may have lived a long time ago, he does not belong in ancient history. My time period ends in A.D. 476. To make it more concrete, speaking linguistically, modern English starts with Shakespeare's time. That archaic-sounding period is about a millennium after the end of my time period.Try one of the more modern history sites.
On the other side of time, the period before writing is covered by the Archaeology Guide.
- Q. I found your site on an internet search for classics. Would you please send me information on Shakespeare?A.
For questions about "classic" literature, try About's Classic Lit, Shakespeare, and Medieval/Renaissance History Guides.
If your question is about Julius Caesar or Midsummer Night's Dream, I may be able to help.
