This ziggurat was built of mudbricks for the Elamite king Untash-Napirisha in c. 1250 B.C. It was called Dur Untash Napirisha 'the fortress of Untash-Napirisha'; it is also called Chogha Zanbil and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. This ziggurat was dedicated to Inshushinak, god of the Susiana province, but honored several other gods, as well. As of 2008, this Elamite ziggurat was the best preserved ziggurat.
