Baghdad

Definition: Baghdad (in modern Iraq) is the modern name of a city on the Tigris River north of Babylon. It was founded by the second Abbasid Caliph, Mansur (A.D. 750-775), on the site of a Sassanian village. Baghdad is now the capital of Iraq.
