Definition: Nimrod, a descendant of Noah through Ham, is called a great hunter in the Bible (Gen. 10:8-12). Nimrod is also the founder of cities, including Babylon and Ninevah. Nimrod is also credited in Genesis with ruling Babel (Babylon), Erech (Uruk), Accad (Agade) and Calneh. The Encyclopedia Britannica says that Biblical Scholars believe Nimrod refers not to an individual, but to an ancient people.
