Athene - Greek Goddess

Definition: Athene is closer to the Greek spelling of the goddess' name than the common English spelling of Athena. She was the goddess of wisdom who was born fully armed from the head of her father Zeus. She was also the goddess of crafts and the patron goddess of Athens, and a goddess of war, especially, its strategic aspects. Athene helped many of the Greek heroes, especially crafty Odysseus. She is also known for turning Arachne into a spider and was known by the ancient Romans as the goddess Minerva.
