Ancient China in Pictures

The oldest paper map, the Guixian Map, dates to the 4th century B.C. I don't have access to a photo of this map and am not sure it would help understand the layout of ancient China as well as this simple black and white illustration.

This map of ancient China shows the topography -- the plateaus, hills, Great Wall, and rivers, which makes it a useful first look. There are other maps of ancient China (see below), but there is sometimes a problem. Some are written in Chinese characters.
