Vision of Gabriel

From N.S. Gill's Ancient/Classical History Glossary, About.com Guest

Definition: The Vision of Gabriel is the name some apply to a 30x90 cm tablet with a messianic message from the first century B.C. Much of Gabriel's Vision (another name for the Vision of Gabriel) is about the apocalypse as told by the angel. There is also an image of the angel Gabriel in the middle of the tablet. The tablet is gray limestone and the 87 lines of writing is ink, some of which is illegible. It is not clear where the tablet comes from. David Jeselsohn, an Israel-Swiss collector and antiquities expert, showed it to Ada Yardeni, an expert in Hebrew writing, who wrote a paper on it, bringing it to international attention.

Israel Knohl, professor of Bible studies at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, believes "the stones writings are about the death of a leader of the Jews who will be resurrected in three days," according to the New York Times article from July 6, 2008.
