Demeter Greek Goddess - Ceres Roman Goddess

Information on the grain goddess Demeter. Demeter is the Greek goddess of grain and Ceres is the name by which the Romans knew her. Worship of Demeter is generally based on the story of the abduction of her daughter Persephone (Proserpina) as a result of which the earth experiences winter each year.
