Based on The Historical Atlas by William R. Shepherd, 1923.
Question: What Was the Greek Empire?
Answer: The Greek Empire can refer to any of 3 empires in ancient history:
  1. The Athenian Empire when Athens headed the Delian League, from the Persian War to the Peloponnesian War.
  2. The Macedonian Alexander the Great's Empire that spread eastward through the Persian Empire to the Indus River and broke apart shortly after Alexander's death in 323 B.C.
  3. The Byzantine Empire, which was the eastern part of the Roman Empire.
The term Greek Empire is not entirely accurate in any of these cases.
