Lion Gate at Mycenae

The Mycenaean Period was the time when if they were real, the heroes of the Homeric epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey lived. It was a time of fortified citadels that had walls around them. The Mycenaeans are thought to have taken over the Minoans in Crete.
