Definition: Kantharos if the Greek name for a type of pottery drinking cup with handles that loom above the lip. In the accompanying photo of an amphora decorated by the Berlin Painter, the wine god Dionysus holds a kantharos of wine. His kantharos was never supposed to be empty.
