Celsus

By , About.com Guide

Definition: A. Cornelius Celsus lived in the early part of the first century A.D. Like many other important historical figures from antiquity, we know frustratingly little about him, including his dates and whether his praenomen was Aulus or Aurelius. Celsus was a Roman encyclopedist who wrote on the topic of medicine. Celsus provides a history of Greco-Roman medicine and surveys the schools, diseases, and treatments, including surgery.
