Definition: Neaira was born around 400 B.C. and grew up in a brothel in Corinth. This famous courtesan was last heard of in her Athenian trial almost 60 years later. Apollodorus prosecuted Neaira for living as if a citizen-wife of the Athenian citizen Stephanos.
