Odysseus was second only to Achilles among the Greeks fighting at Troy. After the Trojan War, it took 10 years of adventures before he reached his home.

This picture shows Odysseus tied to a mast so he can hear the voices of the Sirens without being destroyed by them. He might have leapt into the sea to his death otherwise. His companions are oblivious to the voices because their ears are stoppered with wax.
