Augustus the Historian - The Res Gestae of Augustus

In his "Res gestae," Augustus recorded in marble what he wished to be remembered of his reign. The copy that survives is in Turkey in what was a temple to Augustus. Augustus, appropriately enough, recorded his deeds shortly before he died.
